Open a link and turn on Ask for a code, then type the code.
- Visitors see the button with a lock. Tapping it asks for the code; the right one opens the link (or copies it, if the link is set to copy).
- The address is not in the page's HTML, the share preview or search data. Linky's server hands it out only after the right code.
- Codes are not case-sensitive and can be up to 40 characters. Change the code to cut off everyone who had the old one.
- A visitor gets 8 tries per link every 10 minutes. Once unlocked, the link stays unlocked in that browser tab.
A code keeps a link out of casual reach; it is not encryption. Anyone who has the code can pass the address on.
